Instagram Notes are a fun way to share quick thoughts, updates, or behind-the-scenes glimpses with your followers. But did you know you can also give a shoutout to your friends by mentioning them in your note?

Here's a quick guide on how to mention someone on an Instagram Note:

1. Accessing Your Notes:

There are two ways to get to your Notes:

  • From your Inbox: Swipe left on your home screen or tap the messenger icon in the top right corner. At the top of your inbox, you'll see "Note..." above your profile picture. Tap that to create a new note.
  • From Your Profile: Go to your profile page and tap "Note..." above your profile picture.

2. Mentioning Someone:

Once you're in the note creation screen, simply start typing your message. To mention someone, follow these steps:

  • Type the "@" symbol.
  • Immediately after the "@", type the username of the person you want to mention.
  • Pro Tip: Instagram will suggest usernames as you type, making it easier to find the right person.

3. Sharing Your Note:

After crafting your message and mentioning your friend, you can customize your note further by adding:

  • Music: (Note: This feature may not be available in all regions.)
  • A Short Video Clip: Keep it snappy; videos can only be 2 seconds long.

Once you're happy with your creation, choose who can see your note:

  • Followers You Follow Back: This is the default option.
  • Close Friends: Share your note with a select group.

Finally, tap "Share" in the top right corner to post your note.

What Happens When You Mention Someone?

When you mention someone in your note, they'll receive a notification in their Chats list letting them know they've been mentioned. Their username will also be clickable within your note, allowing them to easily visit your profile.

Things to Keep in Mind:

  • For users to be mentioned, they must allow mentions in their settings.
  • You can only mention accounts that follow you back.
